NEW MAFIA FAMILY PLANS TO PROTECT TOBACCO TAX REVENUEI see that the State's new MAFIA team is eyeing the Tobacco tax and worried that someone is moving in on there turf and vows to increase enforcement.A look at the States tobacco tax revenue indicates that there currently excessive taxes (projected revenue just a bit over 60 million) are losing revenue at a projected 4% a year (Gee, I thought they were after lower consumption).The mafia team has decided to investigate why they are losing revenue and have come to a conclusion prior to completion of the investigation that evil tobacco users are going underground and therefore they must increase enforcement to protect their turf.If in fact tobacco use is going underground then the only ones to blame for and the cause of this criminal activity are sitting in Juneau.It has always been a fact that when citizens know they are being gouged by the government or any entity for that matter. They will seek out and purchase from the cheapest source. We as Americans have been raised that way. All Americans learn early on too seek out the best/fair price.Why are citizens willing to purchase tobacco illegally?Why not? Most tobacco users see the excessive tax on tobacco as criminal activity operated by a State legalized MAFIA (criminal) operation and find little difference in making a purchase from other criminals offering a better deal.
